Expansion Joints
An expansion joint (a.k.a. “movement joint”) is a gap or assembly that allows for movement of structure materials while maintaining the integrity of the building material. Expansion joints are used at transition and termination points of a building, which relieves stress caused by movement such as expansion and contraction of materials resulting from temperature changes.
